This is a Californian Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum jordani). Although it occurs mostly in California it grows in some washington areas. This plant has a long history of medicinal and cultural uses. PNW tribes smoked it to drive out bad spirits, make tea from it to cure insanity and chew it like tobacco to ease stomach pain.
